Get More Quality Connections!

(Part 2)
We discussed the first three steps in the previous blog on the way to the 6 steps. If you haven’t read them yet, please take the time to do so. The order doesn’t matter, but the information could make all the difference in the world to how you use your LinkedIn account to get a better response to your social media efforts.
Step 4: Focus on the job.
The key to doing better with social media is to have more people with which to communicate. It comes down to simple math. You will have more opportunities with 1,000 connections than if you have 100 connections. So, when I say that you need to focus on the job. What that means is that you need to make it part of your daily routine to connect with more people EVERY DAY. It is part of the job. Maybe you’ll get lucky and have a few connections work with you quickly. Maybe not. Either way, make it part of the job. Even a bad salesperson will get results if they try hard enough. If you are good, then the odds are going to amaze you.
Step 5: 10-Minute Daily Challenge
One of the things you should consider is to do what Putnam Investments is having people do and that is to take the 10-Minute Challenge. It’s good reading and will really help those who really want social media marketing to work for them. Like everything else you’ve been told, each of these steps are not the magic wand to the be-all answer. They are each, together, the building blocks you need to take to make social media work for you. Here’s the link to Putnam’s 10-Minute Challenge.

Step 6: Connect with your connections!
Isn’t that a silly thing to say? Connect with your connections! It’s not. It seems that we all get complacent and simply do one or two of the steps needed to be good with social media and then forget to do the rest. And, one of the biggest things we forget to do is actually talk to the people we are connected with. You must connect with them. You need to talk to them and find out what they want and need and how you can help them meet their objectives. You need to post on LinkedIn and give them something to think about. Most of all...you need them to start thinking about you. There are many steps you can take to make this crazy process of social media work for you. Start here. As time goes on and you start getting results, you’ll realize that marketing and selling are interconnected, but a lot easier than any time in our history.
